DESIGN PROCESS

There are so many talented designers to choose from and all of them will surely provide you a beautiful outcome. Where I differ is in my customer service approach and business background which allows me to clearly define the design process and expectations for each project so my clients have no unanswered questions. It might seem structured but breaking things down this way ensures everyone is on the same page throughout the design process.

BEFORE BECOMING A CLIENT

  1. The Initial Call: Every project starts here. Just complete the form and I’ll send you a link to schedule a call on the day and time that work best for your schedule. I’ll call you at the scheduled time and we’ll talk more about what you’re hoping to achieve, your budget and timeline expectations, and how I can help you. At the end of this call, we’ll determine if a more in-depth virtual Meet & Greet call is needed or we can skip straight to the Walk-Through Consultation.

  2. The Walk-Through Consultation: The next step is to meet in person for a walk-through consultation of the space (not applicable for new home builds). During this information-gathering meeting, we’ll talk more about your vision and I’ll ask a lot of questions that will help me create your custom Scope of Work. This meeting isn’t a working design session but we’ll talk about high-level ideas. We will spend up to 2 hours together during this meeting and I charge $250. Why isn’t this meeting free? Because I’m taking time away from active projects to share my ideas and expertise with you. This charge enables me to focus my time on our meeting and then go back to my office to draft a formal proposal which we will review together. All in all, I’ll have anywhere from 3-5 hours invested in our getting to know each other and I simply don’t have the time to meet with potential clients who aren’t serious or just want free input.

  3. Proposal Review Call: Once I have all the information needed, I’ll put together your Proposal Scope of Work and Letter of Agreement and we’ll schedule a virtual meeting to review. This allows me to make adjustments as we review your estimated schedule, pricing, and project details. Your Proposal will outline every deliverable, schedule estimate, and exactly what you’ll pay.

  4. Your Project Begins: Once the agreement has been signed and the first payment made, we’ll kick things off!

CLIENT DESIGN PROCESS: FULL-SERVICE

The below phases are outlined for a Value-Based, Full Service Design Service. Each step is modified based on your custom Scope of Work.

PHASE I. DISCOVERY

Every home design project begins here. The information I glean during this interview phase is what allows me to build a foundation for which all other design recommendations will be based.

  1. The Design Survey: Client will complete an in-depth design survey with any other involved decision-makers.

  2. Inspiration Gathering: Client will send any inspiration photos (Pinterest or Houzz boards).

  3. Inspiration Meeting: During this virtual meeting, we’ll look at your photos and some I’ve pulled and discuss what you like (or dislike) about each one. This gives me valuable insight into the little things you may not even know to mention.

Phase II. Conceptual design

  1. Concepting Begins: behind the scenes, I’ll be pulling together a conceptual design plan.

  2. Concept Meeting: storyboards confirm the high-level aesthetic direction, 2D layout concept, preliminary materials, and investment estimate. This is our check point to ensure the design is on the right track and gives us an opportunity to adjust if needed.

  3. Revisions: Client receives one round of revisions/feedback during this time.

  4. Trade Day (if applicable): Review conceptual direction with the client-chosen contractor or trades-people as needed. This ensures the design ideas can be confidently executed and any adjustments can be addressed for the Final Design. Additionally, the contractor(s) can now provide more exact estimates to execute the design.

*Sometimes this phase is eliminated for less complex projects.

  3. Revisions: Client receives one round of revisions/feedback during this time.
