DESIGN PROCESS
There are so many talented designers to choose from and all of them will surely provide you a beautiful outcome. Where I differ is in my customer service approach and business background which allows me to clearly define the design process and expectations for each project so my clients have no unanswered questions. It might seem structured but breaking things down this way ensures everyone is on the same page throughout the design process.
BEFORE BECOMING A CLIENT
The Initial Call: Every project starts here. Just complete the form and I’ll be in touch to talk more about what you’re hoping to achieve, your budget and timeline expectations, and how I can help you.
The Initial Visit: The next step is to meet in person for a walk-through of the space (or your vision in the case of new construction). This meeting isn’t a working design session but we’ll disucss high-level ideas and goals. We will spend up to 2 hours together during this meeting and I charge $500. Why isn’t this meeting free? Because I’m taking time away from active projects to share my ideas and expertise with you. This charge enables me to focus my time on our meeting and then go back to my office to draft a formal proposal which we will review together. All in all, I’ll have anywhere from 3-5 hours invested in our getting to know each other and I simply don’t have the time to meet with potential clients who aren’t serious or just want free input.
Proposal Review Call: Once I have all the information needed, I’ll put together your Letter of Agreement and we’ll schedule a meeting to review. This allows me to make adjustments as we review your estimated schedule, pricing, and project details. Your Proposal will outline every deliverable, schedule estimate, and exactly what you’ll pay.
Your Project Begins: Once the agreement has been signed and the first payment made, we’ll kick things off!
CLIENT DESIGN PROCESS: TURN-KEY
The below phases are outlined for a Turn-Key design project. Each step is modified based on your custom Scope of Work.
PHASE I. DISCOVERY
Every home design project begins here. The information I glean during this interview phase is what allows me to build a foundation for which all other design recommendations will be based.
Inspiration Gathering: Client will send any inspiration photos (Pinterest or Houzz boards).
Inspiration Meetings: We’ll look at your photos and some I’ve pulled and discuss what you like (or dislike) about each one. This gives me valuable insight into the little things you may not even know to mention.
Phase II. Conceptual design
Concept Meetings: During this phase, we’ll schedule regular time together to visit showrooms and/or the Missi & Company design studio and collaboratively pull together materials that can act as a foundation for the complete design.
Trade Day (if applicable): Review conceptual direction with the contractor or trades-people as needed. From this meeting, the contractor(s) can provide quotes to execute the high-level design.
*Sometimes this phase is eliminated for less complex projects.
Phase III. detailed design
Detailed Design: Behind the scenes, final materials and selections are sourced, a complete budget is created, and a final design plan is created.
Design Presentation: Review all design boards, materials and selections, layouts/renderings (if applicable), and budget. This is the fun part when you get to see your entire space and each element come together! Sometimes this is split into two meetings (construction and furnishings) depending on the timeline.
Revisions: Client receives one round of revisions/feedback during this time.
Final Design Plan Approved
Phase IV. Purchasing & Execution
Orders Placed: Purchasing and expediting, order management
Remodel/Build Execution: Contractor and tradespeople implementation; we act as a contractor liaison during this time for communication, scheduling, design-related oversight, and questions.
Deliveries, Installation & Reveal: Product inspection, delivery, install, and handling any damage claims
